Avoid pitfalls such as marketing half-baked product, no-human touch, and overdose to deliver best results

Marketers, including those who are working with your competitors, often end up at a cross-road where they are not able to figure out what went wrong with their much anticipated marketing campaign. A lot of times, with some brainstorming they realize that they have committed a few fundamental mistakes.
After analyzing several campaigns, we figured out following three common pitfalls that most marketers get trapped in:
1) Marketing first Product second: Quality offering should be the precursor to full-fledged marketing efforts not the reverse
“Don’t fix the marketing first, fix your product. Once you’ve got a good product to talk about, the marketing’s going to flow from that.” – Scott Monty, Ford Social-Media Chief
2) Human Touch: Behave like a human not machine. Your fans are there to talk to you and not for a monologue. You need to engage with them by running sweepstakes, polls, and providing copuons.
“You can be professional while also ‘keeping it real’ with your customers. By interacting with customers in a less formal way, you’ll build a strong human connection that helps build brand loyalty.” – David Hauser, Co-founder, Grasshopper
3) Don’t over do it: You should not force anything on to your customers. You should only focus on creating a pull and facilitating customer engagement.
“Engage rather than sell… Work as a co-creator, not a marketer.” – Tom H. C. Anderson, Market Researcher
Marketers should always look to avoid these three pitfalls to overpower competitors in social media marketing.
